Q1: Tell us a little bit about you.
I am a mother to 8 kids, I have a great husband who totally supports my job and 6 grandkids!!! I am a multi-tasker who Chat Hosts, programs and provides customer support to all our bingo customers.
Q2: How long have you been a Chat Host?
I have been doing this for almost 12 yrs now! Wow!
Q3: How did you become a Chat Host?
I met a gentleman who was president of one of the original online bingo software companies. After many conversations he eventually talked me into becoming a Chat Host for his website. The rest is history.
Q4: What do you like most about the job?
The people. From my fellow employees right on down to the players. It's a joy to watch people from the four corners of the world meet and have fun together and just enjoy themselves in these trying times.
Q5: What is the worst part of the job?
Shutting down my PC at the day's end... oh wait, is there a day's end??
Q6: Which are your favorite chat room games?
Any chat game that gets players excited and involved with the CMs and each other. Especially our promotional chat games that go on every day in the evening from 8pm to 11pm. They give more BBS and require more interaction from the roomies.
Q7: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened whilst you have been in a chat room?
It was the week that a site I worked for lost their game server and all we had was the chat room. I spent countless hours trying to keep the players with us while we fixed the server. The roomies did everything from taking group pictures to redecorating the chat room to singing 99 bottles of beer on the wall! That was the funniest time I ever had in a chat room!
Q8: What makes a good Chat Host?
Patience, dedication, the gift of gab, kindness, a love for the job, and knowledge of bingo.
Q9: How would you like to see online bingo (as a whole) develop?
I would like to see this industry become what it was years ago... A way for the average bingo lover to play from home without worrying about difficult ways to fund or being ripped off. There is a lot of competition out there, but at the same time the majority of players just want to enjoy the game and that's it! If the backbone of this industry could just stick to the original reasons they started out, then this could be accomplished. And for the US government to stop coming across with a double edged sword. You can't legalize smoking and drinking and then prohibit gambling by claiming it will destroy morals and lives.
Q10: Any other comments that you'd like to add about being a Chat Host?
Being a Chat Host is a very rewarding job. The time, dedication and strong moral values are what makes or breaks you in this business. If you want to be a Chat Host for a site, loving what you do is the most import requirement above all others. Realize that at times it's not going to be easy. After all, you can't please everyone all the time, but you can give it your best shot. And if at the end of the day you can sit back and say, "Wow, I made that upset person into a satisfied customer", then you did what a Chat Host is all about.
