Q1: Tell us a little bit about you.
My name is Nancy, I have a great hubby and 4 wonderful kids.
I spend my time off with training our parrots, and riding my horses (dressage)
Besides my family, parrots and horses, I love cats and dogs and.BINGO!!
Q2: How long have you been a Chat Host?
I have been CM for 2 years now, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Q3: How did you become a Chat Host?
I always enjoyed being in chat, helping other roomies out and make fun, but I wanted more! So I wrote to a lot of bingo site managers with the help of 2 "host" friends until I found a home :-)
Q4: What do you like most about the job?
The best part is being able to help players, answer their questions, and make them happy. You can be there for them when they need someone talk to, understanding, listening. But almost everything is good :-). You get a lot of appreciation in return for everything you put in, and friendship. They listen to you too. Being a chat host means you'll never be lonely. Creating games is also a great part of this job.
Q5: What is the worst part of the job?
There will always be people that don't know how to behave. It's my job to control the room but it's no fun when you have to boot one. Moreover, when something goes wrong at times, it is always the host receiving the blame for it. Also leaving the room after a night of fun. that is hard.
Q6: Which are your favorite chat room games?
My favourite games are Scrabble, Decathlon and Team Games. Even though they are really busy games for the Host, it's always lots of fun. Like when they get 7 scrabble letters that make funny words.lol With Decathlon everyone is playing their own event, and I always hope they all make it to the finish line. When they don't it almost feels like I didn't make it myself... those games really suck me in as if I was playing it myself.
Q7: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened whilst you have been in a chat room?
It's always the typo's !! We call it Nancynese, and it seems to be infectious so watch out!! LOL The funniest names, words and situations come up when someone makes a typo. When you miss the D and press the S when you want to call Duckie... ahh that's embarrassing!! It's not that bad really... I can type, honestly, but I have those nights... sighhhh. One other thing I will not forget is when a roomie told me she had been camping. I started telling camping stories, and they all went with me.. the story got worse by the minute. It ended up in a torn up tent with someone's hubby, looking for a flashlight to find the zipper and fighting with huge spiders... LOL
Q8: What makes a good Chat Host?
To be a good host I think you need a lot of patience, a good sense of humor, and care about people, to be able to make them feel welcome and special, like a part of your family. All roomies are equal, no favouritism. A good host handles 100 roomies asking questions about anything and still runs chat games, keeps conversations going and makes sure every single roomie gets their attention. A good host knows how to control any problem and continues making a happy environment in chat again. A good host listens to players opinions without getting angry, as long they don't break chat rules of course. But most of all a good host is reliable, honest, able to work independently and a good team player.
Q9: How would you like to see online bingo (as a whole) develop?
I think it's great especially for those who cannot leave home easily to be able to play bingo online, meet friends and have a place to relax and enjoy. Therefore, I hope online bingo will expand all over the world, accessible for everyone. It should be there in all languages, for the real gamblers and for the fun players. There should be more supervision, to protect both sites and players. Right now sites can do as they wish, but it is also possible for a player to post their groundless accusations without any research, to me, both are not fair and should not be possible.
Q10: Any other comments that you'd like to add about being a Chat Host?
It's not always that easy and fun as it seems, it's a real job and you have responsibilities. Being host is much more than just being host. you meet great friends, and you mean a lot to most of them. People open up and trust you, share their secrets and problems, their joy and happiness. It's the most wonderful thing people can give you.
All the team here at CMOTY would like to say a big 'TY' to Nancy.
