Q1: Tell us a little bit about you.
I live in Southampton on the south coast of the UK with my partner of 11 years Keren and my Cocker Spaniel - Joshy. I am 40 years old but much younger at heart LOL. I enjoy many things in life from gardening, travel to sunny hot places like the Mediterranean and of course online bingo.
Q2: How long have you been a Chat Host?
I have been a chat host now for a little over a year and joined Crown Bingo when they launched in December 2005.
Q3: How did you become a Chat Host?
I played a lot of online bingo and had a great time, the site CM where I played suggested that I did some CM work and I contacted the Chat Manager, the rest is history as they say.
Q4: What do you like most about the job?
I love the interaction with the roomies/players and the fun that we have whilst in chat but most of all seeing that we are doing a great job at Crown in keeping our players/customers happy. It is fantastic to see the feedback that we get being such a young new site in the online bingo world and it is great that the feedback is all good. I love to see roomie wins LOL. At Crown we have some of the best roomies I have come across on the internet, everyone in our chat room is friendly and welcoming, they are like part of the family.
Q5: What is the worst part of the job?
Good or bad its all part of the job really and although I have yet to have a real bad experience in chat I do not like having to tame feisty and troublesome roomies/players. It is rare that I have had to do it but my main concern is the other roomies/players and their overall enjoyment whilst playing.
Q6: Which are your favorite chat room games?
I love two of the games that we play, Roulette and Bullseye but also like that old favourite Birthdays. To be honest I like any chat game that sees the roomies winning some extra cash.
Q7: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened whilst you have been in a chat room?
As a player and a regular roomie, early one Saturday morning I got "married" to another roomie, a regular who like me was very active in this particular chat room. The CM did the wedding vows and the room was a real scream that morning and a fantastic laugh was had by all. For months afterwards whenever myself or my "wife" went into the chat room we were always greeted with "how's the wife/husband". The CM that day was a real sport as were the roomies who were all full of encouragement. I will remember that day for a very long time.
Q8: What makes a good Chat Host?
A good chat host is someone who firstly and most importantly likes to chat. They must a person with the patience of saint sometimes and be able to remember that the roomies/players are, after all, the site's customers. A good host should also know about the site that they are working at and be able to answer general questions for roomies/players and if they cannot then be able to try and find the answers that are needed. A big point for me and the CMs at Crown is that we greet all players when they join the room and say goodbye when a roomie tells us they are leaving. All roomies/players should be treated equally and when they ask a question that we at the very least acknowledge them.
Q9: How would you like to see online bingo (as a whole) develop?
I would like to see all sites working together to improve the experiences for our players/customers and where possible make the things more uniform. My biggest gripe is playing at a site where you are constantly given deposit bonuses that cause problems if you are lucky enough to win and want to cash out. I think that if a site wants to give deposit bonuses then that's fine but the player should have the option of declining it. In general sites need to keep up the good work that many do and focus on the player and their online experience. It is after all down to the players as to how successful we are and that we stay running. No players means no site!!!
Q10: Any other comments that you'd like to add about being a Chat Host?
A chat host should simply be polite, fun and be there enjoying the experience as well as the players. No matter how busy you are or how stressed you feel at times you have to soldier on and put on a brave face and never let the roomies see that you are struggling. If you can do that then you will succeed in being a great CM.
All the team here at CMOTY would like to say a big 'TY' to Tunaman.
